'Error 1923: Sage Data Service could not start' when installing Sage 50 Accounts
Description
Cause

Don't worry, this may seem quite technical but it's normally straight forward to resolve in three easy steps.

The error message occurs if the Sage Data Service is marked for deletion, or you don't have sufficient access on the computer your installing on.

Resolution

Let's get your software installed. Here are the steps we recommend you follow:

1 - Check if you're logged on as an administrator

  1. Press the Windows key 

      and R on your keyboard.
  2. Type netplwiz, then click OK.
    • If the User Accounts window appears, you are logged in as an administrator.
    • If you're prompted to enter your credentials, you're not logged in as an administrator.

To find out your administrator login details, please speak to your IT support or someone appropriate within your business.


2 - Log in as an administrator

  1. Restart the computer and log in as an administrator.
  2. Try to install the software again.

If the problem persists, continue to the next section.


3 - Check the Sage Data Service

  1. Press the Windows key 

     

    and press R.
  2. Enter services.msc then click OK.
  3. Scroll down the list until you locate Sage 50 Accounts Service vXX and note the exact name.
    • For example, Sage 50 Accounts Service v27.
  4. Close the Services window.
  5. Press the Windows key 

     

    and press R.
  6. Type cmd then click OK.
  7. Type sc delete [service name you noted] then press Enter.
  8. Type Exit then press Enter.
  9. Restart the computer and log in as an administrator.
  10. Try to install the software again.
